Snack attack – inking completed

There are many things that can keep me from completing any personal project I start. Chores. Family obligations. Reddit. That’s pretty much the entire list, actually. But I do finish. It just takes forever.

Take my new 4 page comic Snack attack, for example. I started inking sometime around the beginning of November. I just finished the weekend before Christmas. It’s only 4 pages. I am easily distracted, and tired most of the time. It’s embarrassing.

If I were to proclaim resolutions for the new year, which I don’t, but if I did, learning to control being distracted by meaningless shit would be at the top of my list. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately – when it’s all over, what do I want to be remembered for? Wasting hours scrolling “social” media? Or having created things?

I’m very happy with these pages. I tried a few different things this time. I wrote the script using a screenplay format which I really like. I think I was more thoughtful about composition, learning from previous work. I applied a kind of cross hatching when inking for some mid-tones which I liked a lot.

Next step for this comic is colour. I’ve scanned it, cleaned it up, and imported it into Procreate, so all I need to do now is not get distracted.
